Flower Arrangements

Join us as we apply the skills we already know and use as artists to create a dynamic flower arrangement.
This one-day class will cover:
o How to select, cut and prepare flowers and greens.
o How to size and prepare wet floral foam (oasis), which soaks up water like a sponge to prolong the life of the flowers and hold them in place.
o A description and overview of recognized floral design alternatives, through project displays and handouts.
o A short description and discussion about interpreting a painting with a floral arrangement.
o Demonstrations on how to complete an arrangement following a design plan.
o Completing a floral arrangement with assistance and direction as needed.
o Taking home a glorious centerpiece
Our Spring Show reception at the Manahawkin Gallery in May will feature an Art in Bloom display of floral arrangements that interpret ten of the works of art hanging in the show. We are hoping that after this class you will want to not only submit a painting, but also be one of the floral designers.
Flowers, greens, oasis, and containers will be provided.
