What's New & Noteworthy
What does it mean for an artist to paint “ Plein Air “ ? Simply put, it is to paint outside, out of doors, with the scene that you are painting right there before you.
What are some advantages to doing this? Well, first you see the true and natural colors of light and shadow which can lend authenticity to our work. Then, too, as you look at the scene it is not flat. No, it is three dimensional, so you get a real sense of time and place. All of this can definitely help us to better understand what we are painting, and that, in turn, will make our paintings better.
Here at Pine Shores, we have a plein air schedule coming up and then a subsequent Plein Air Show in October. As the weather warms, watch for these in our newsletter or on our website and take part in it. You will enjoy it!

Volunteer Positions Open
March 2022

Volunteer positions are vital to our day-to-day efficient and effective functioning.  Each role is part of established committees and new leaders will receive lots of support and guidance from the outgoing chairs, the rest of the team, and the Board.

Volunteers receive much in return for their efforts. Some join to learn new skills; others offer their
experience in any number of areas for the benefit of us all. Pine Shores gives volunteers the unique opportunity to interact with fellow artists in ways that foster new friendships and creative endeavors for ongoing artistic inspiration.

These positions are open NOW and training can begin immediately. Please consider joining the team of movers and shakers that keeps Pine Shores thriving.

Greetings everyone,

I hope you'll be able to join me at the next Art Chat, this Tuesday, March 15th at 10am at the Tuckerton Library.

The Little Egg Library is interested in displaying the Art Chat Artist's work from the last week in April and through the month of May. Donna Albrecht, the Librarian at Little Egg, has 40 hangers in a central room.  We can hang some larger paintings and more smaller paintings or framed photography there. The Library wants to get the process started for the "Art Chat show". Each participating Artist are asked to provide a brief Bio and will have to complete a submission form (Donna will have the forms at the Tuckerton Library for us). I invited her to come to the Art Chat this Tuesday, the 15th so she could meet the group, and we could get started on our first Library show as a group.

I hope you can come and/or let me know if you're interested in the show at the Little Egg Harbor Library,

Nancy Glines
The next General Membership meeting is Monday, March 14th from 7pm with refreshments at 6:30pm.  Under the latest guidelines, registration for this meeting is no longer necessary. Masks are optional for those who are vaccinated.
